Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation of Raul Albiol at Real Madrid after Valencia made a recent enquiry for the out of favour centre-back.
The Gunners are desperate to strengthen their defense before the transfer window closes on August 31, and according to reports in Spain, Albiol could be available at a knockdown price.
The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu, and is currently behind Pepe, Ricardo Carvalho and Rafael Varane in Jose Mourinho’s thinking.
Regular right-back Sergio Ramos is also preferred to Albiol as a centre-back option.
Now his former club are looking to re-sign the Spanish international, and armed with the £24m they received for Juan Mata, are believed to be prepared to pay Real £8m for Albiol’s services.
